Transmission Fluid -

Your transmission needs a special lubricant to allow its parts to function properly. This special liquid that you use for your transmission 0is called transmission fluid. There are a number of transmission fluids on the market and you should always use the kind that is compatible to your specific transmission.

If you have an automatic transmission, you are required to use an automatic transmission fluid. But if your car has a manual transmission, review your car manual to know the type of transmission fluid that you should use. There are vehicles that are required to have regular motor oil or heavyweight hypoid gear oil. And, there are even cars with a manual transmission that can use automatic transmission fluids depending on the condition of the automobiles.

To keep your car in a perfect condition, you must change your transmission fluid regularly. A lot of car makers suggest manual transmission owners to change their fluid right ahead when they reach a distance of at least 30,000 miles. But if your automobile is used for heavy-duty transportation, then you should replace your transmission fluid every 15,000 miles. If you do otherwise, your transmission can be contaminated when your gears, bearings, and synchronizers wear out. Contamination can also ruin your whole transmission.

If you are a car owner with an automatic transmission, you can change your fluid when you already travel 60,000 miles. When you fail to change the fluid, your automatic transmission fluid can break down when you are driving. Moreover, transmission fluids for automatic cars can also be contaminated.

Visit the nearest shop in your area and let a mechanic help you change your transmission fluid. You can also identify if your car has other problems if you always inspect and clean it.
